How do we purchase quality care and support that meets people’s needs, and supports their outcomes while ensuring a sustainable organisations and fair reward for the social care workforce? Social care purchasing often focus on competitive (re) tendering but this is not the only answer to this complex question.

Recent legislative changes in procurement, self-directed support and health and social care integration, alongside the challenges of increasing demand and decreasing resources gives us a unique opportunity to critically review our approach to the purchase of social care and explore the options…beyond competition.

With input from a range of expert speakers and innovators, participants will have space to critically consider different approaches in conversation with colleagues from across the sector including local authorities, the NHS, providers and local and national policymakers.

Who should attend

  • This event is aimed at those managing and designing services in the third sector; commissioning and procurement staff from public authorities; in addition to local and national policymakers.
  • A general understanding of commissioning and procurement in social care will be assumed.

Booking information

  • The event is free- however we anticipate high demand so ask that delegates book only 1 place per organisation.
  • All places will be confirmed by 5th October 2015.
